Cut Worms: Louisiana Rain

Max Clarke records under the band name Cut Worms. He released his third album last year, and is about to start a run with his touring band as the opening act for Wilco’s 2024 tour. I’ve been listening to his latest record, which includes appearances by the D’Addario brothers (aka The Lemon Twigs). I enjoyed that album enough to dig into his older material and discovered a single he released in 2020 for his cover of one of my favorite Tom Petty tunes, “Louisiana Rain.” Clarke’s cover is fairly true to the original, but presents just enough stylistic differences to call it his own. The cover for the single is a nice homage as well.
