Ibrahim Maalouf and Melody Gardot: J’attendrai
Sunday is jazz day. A great friend of mine recently introduced me to the music of Melody Gardot. She is a jazz vocalist who focuses on standards and torch songs. She is from New Jersey, but much of her work is presented in French. She experienced a serious head injury and turned to music therapy for her recovery, which in turn led to her career as a vocalist. Ibrahim Maalouf is a very successful Lebanese trumpeter. “J’attendrai” is a gorgeous collaboration between these two jazz musicians. It is from Maalouf’s album Dalida, a tribute to the legendary French singer and actress.

Love this!
That’s an unusual way to become a vocalist.
