Wild Cherry: I Feel Sanctified
It’s funky Friday! We’re going pop funk today with “I Feel Sanctified” by Wild Cherry. Wild Cherry are best known as one-hit wonders for their iconic #1 hit “Play That Funky Music.” Surprisingly, that wasn’t the first single from their self-titled 1976 debut album. That honor goes to their cover of The Commodores’ funk classic “I Feel Sanctified.” Although this tune didn’t hit the Top 40, the album hit #1 on the R&B album charts, due in some part to the inclusion of solid funk tunes like this.

I’m pretty sure they ripped off the Commodores to make Play That Funky Music, but aren’t we all glad they did!

I dare say it’s blatant, but I do love me “Play That Funky Music”! I once sang terribly to it at karaoke night many moons ago.
