Tom Harrell: Sail Away

Sunday is jazz day. Tom Harrell is a trumpeter and composer who began his recording career in 1976, and today is his birthday. His 1989 album Sail Away is a straight-ahead collection of modern jazz compositions and is one of his most acclaimed records. It features James Williams on piano, Ray Drummond on bass, and Adam Nussbaum on guitar. The wonderful title track features John Abercrombie on guitar and has become a modern-day jazz standard.
