Prince: Everyday Is A Winding Road

It’s funky Friday! Continuing with the music of 1999, today’s selection is from Prince’s album Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic. This is not one of Prince’s best albums, but there are three or four great tunes on the record, including his cover of Sheryl Crow’s “Everyday Is a Winding Road” (which Crow co-produced). The tune starts out with an EDM beat before dropping into a solid Prince funk jam at the one-minute mark. At the three-minute mark he breaks it out into a final verse/chorus followed by an extended closing jam break. Prince didn’t reinvent himself much during the last three decades of his career, but he was always great at reinventing covers. This is exhibit #1.
