Chocolate Milk: Grand Theft

It’s funky Friday! Chocolate Milk worked in the same style of funk/R&B as Kool & The Gang and Earth, Wind, & Fire, but they never achieved the success of either of those funk legends. To be honest, this is because they weren’t as good. They had the musicianship to create top-level funk, but their songwriting and vocals weren’t on par with the best funk groups of the era. Even so, there is nothing wrong with their recordings, and listening to their albums Action Speaks Louder Than Words and We’re All In This Together is worth the time. “Grand Theft” is from the latter album, but all of their recordings include not only solid funk like this tune but also soulful ballads and a lot of social commentary.
