Stump: Charlton Heston
Saturday is Lost Classics day with a focus on great songs that aren’t very well-known. Like I did last Saturday, I’ve selected one of my favorite songs that I discovered as a deejay in college. Stump were an indie band from Ireland/England in the late ’80s who are now all but forgotten by anyone who didn’t discover them during their brief existence. I was amazed to find that this track is available on major streaming services. The album it is taken from, One Fierce Pancake, is not available, but someone stuck “Charlton Heston” on a compilation. I don’t remember much about this band or their album One Fierce Pancake, but this song has stuck with me due to its absurdity and the use of a frog-croak percussive track. The world was not changed in any dramatic fashion when this song was released in 1988, but there are clearly some people out there besides me who have fond memories of it.

I’ve gone my entire life without hearing this song. It’s fun and crazy….thank you for smile this Saturday morning!

Had to grab my son from the other room to listen to this one. He’s always mixing interesting sounds together so I thought he might love the frogs and was right.
