Charli XCX: Break the Rules
Continuing my focus on the Top 10 albums of 2014, coming in at #2 is Sucker by Charli XCX. Sucker is the second album by 21st century hyperpop superstar Charli XCX and was one of the first massive hits of the style. I paid no attention to hyperpop or this album 10 years ago, but now I am a fan. Although I prefer the music of 100 Gecs, there is something so infectious about this album that it is impossible not to listen to one track after another once you get into the groove. Charli XCX is an icon for the LGBT+ community and a fierce advocate for female empowerment, and this album is where she gained the voice to make a difference in the world through her music.
