MC5: Kick Out The Jams
Continuing my focus on artists who died in 2024, today I present a song by MC5. One day in 1965, the legendary Motor City 5 lineup of Rob Tyner (vocals), Wayne Kramer (guitar), Fred “Sonic” Smith (guitar), Michael Davis (bass), and Dennis Thompson (drums) came together after two years of lineup changes by the band. On this day, punk rock was born. Wayne Kramer died on February 2, 2024 and Dennis Thompson died on May 8, 2024. They were the last living members of the band. Rest in peace; now you can all destroy whatever stages exist in the afterlife.
