Song of the Day: October 2, 2024

Continuing my focus on artists who died in 2024, today I present a song by guitarist Duane Eddy. Eddy is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame who laid the groundwork for what would become surf rock and was a major influence on the guitar playing of George Harrison, Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen, and others. Eddy developed his signature twangy guitar sound in 1957 when he decided to stop singing and replace his vocals with lead lines played on the bass strings of his guitar. It was a good decision. Duane Eddy died on April 30, 2024 at the age of 86.
