Butthole Surfers: In the Cellar

It’s almost Halloween so this week’s songs are selected for the occasion. The album Rembrandt Pussyhorse is unlike any other releases by Texas noise masters Butthole Surfers. There is a darkness lurking in almost all the songs on the album, both lyrically and musically. I have selected the closing track ”In the Cellar” which is a warped version of the album opener “Creep in the Cellar.” I could have just as easily selected “Waiting for Jimmy to Kick,” “Whirling Hall of Knives,” or “Strangers Die Everyday.” If you want to feel uneasy tonight, put on your headphones, turn out the lights, and listen to this album alone in the dark. Very creepy.
