Mother’s Finest: Funky Mountain
It’s funky Friday! Mother’s Finest were one of the first funk rock bands. Their 1972 self-titled debut owes much to the trailblazing music of Sly and The Family Stone and Funkadelic, but it was a commercial failure. “Funky Mountain” is from what I believe was the band’s unreleased second album that RCA Records refused to release due to poor sales of their debut. 50 years later, these lost songs are all thankfully available.
