Eilert Pilarm: Blue Christmas
I still haven’t taken the time to really focus a series of posts on the wonderful world of Outsider Music. I don’t have time to do so now, but I can least present a few Holiday tunes to provide a short glimpse into this oft-ignored world of creativity. I’ll start with one of my favorite Christmas albums from the world of Outsiders. Eilert Pilarm (aka The Swedish Elvis) was an Elvis impersonator who made up for his lack of singing ability with a spirited love of The King of Rock and Roll that can still be felt 20 years after his retirement from performing in 2003. “Blue Christmas” is from his album Eilert’s Jul, which I believe was released in 2001.

If you are unaware of the world of outsider music, all I ask is that you replace your initial response to mock or laugh at this music and realize that the spirit and love of music presented by these artists is more honest and heartfelt than that of most of the million-selling, popular artists of today.
