The Band: Christmas Must Be Tonight
Sometimes the best modern-day Christmas songs are originally deep cuts from albums released earlier in the year. Some of my favorites of this type include “2000 Miles” from the 1984 Pretenders album Learning to Crawl, “Santa’s Beard” from the 1988 They Might Be Giants album Lincoln, and “River” from the 1971 Joni Mitchell album Blue. However, my absolute favorite of this type of Holiday song is “Christmas Must Be Tonight” from the 1977 The Band album Islands. Composed by Robbie Robertson and sung by the Faux household’s favorite Band member, Rick Danko, this is now a Holiday classic for anyone lucky enough to have discovered it.
