Lizz Wright: Southern Nights
This morning’s post was the song “Southern Nights” from New Orleans musician Allen Touissant’s 1975 album of the same name. The most famous cover of that song was the smash hit by Glen Campbell in 1977, but I found a more recent cover from 2017. This version by jazz/gospel vocalist Lizz Wright really showcases the soulful nature of the song – much more so than Campbell’s upbeat, out-of-touch version.
