Jorge Ben and Gilberto Gil: Jurubeba
Continuing my focus on the music of 1975, today’s song is by Jorge Ben and Gilberto Gil. The album Gil e Jorge is unique in the discography of both of these iconic Brazilian musicians. For these recording sessions, they stripped down the production to two guitars, an occasional bass, and minimal percussion. The album is improvised both instrumentally and vocally and the end result is pure joy. This may not be the best album by either of them, but their ability to steal a moment in time and present it in this way makes this an unforgettable set of songs.
