Brian Wilson died on June 11, 2025 at the age of 82. Coming only 2 days after the death of Sly Stone (also at the age of 82), this is a sad week in pop music history. The influence of Brian Wilson’s 1960s work with The Beach Boys can’t be understated. He was a production genius whose obsession with harmony and sound influenced all of his contemporaries and decades of artists to come later. On a personal note, the music of Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys has not been as big a part of my life’s soundtrack as the music of Sly Stone but the Faux household is definitely a pro-Brian Wilson residence. Albums such as Today!, Summer Days (and Summer Nights), Pet Sounds, Smiley Smile, 20/20, and Surf’s Up have had a place in my music listening rotation for many years. I still own the vinyl copy of Pet Sounds I bought as a college freshman almost 40 years ago. Rest in peace Mr. Wilson, you production visionary.
Anyone who cares most likely knows the music of The Beach Boys, but here are some lesser known gems for your enjoyment.

Beach Boys was one of the first big concerts I went to back in the 70s.
