The Mekons are the last remaining original punk band, although they have not made punk music for over 40 years. I have been a Mekons fan since I first reviewed their 1989 album The Mekons Rock and Roll for my college radio station, so any new music they create is a gift. Their new album is called Horror and is wonderful. I’ve selected two songs. “You’re Not Singing Anymore” is a mid-tempo Mekons-style rocker and “Fallen Leaves” is a gorgeous ballad with a wonderful video.
