Ms. Faux and I are having a blast selecting songs for our new 3 Song Dance Party posts. This week’s songs all feature the music of Norman Cook. Cook was the original bassist for under-rated and forgotten Brit-pop band The Housemartins. After only a few years in the mid-1980s, The Housemartins disbanded after releasing 2 albums in less than one year (1986-87). Cook then reinvented himself as the EDM groundbreaking musician known as Fatboy Slim.
This week’s dance set includes “Happy Hour” by The Housemartins, Norman Cook’s banger of a remix for the song “Brimful of Asha” by Cornershop, and Fatboy Slim’s classic club hit “Rockafeller Skank.” You can listen to these 3 Song Dance Party playlists on Amazon Music, Spotify, or with the YouTube links below. This is enabled dancing, so even if you just dance on your couch, please take a moment and dance some joy into the middle of your week.

Amazing! I love Housemartins (The People Who Grinned Themselves To Death) and Fatboy Slim (That Old Pair Of Jeans–Hula Hoop Version, Praise You), and never knew the connection. I’m so happy to know this! The three songs you’ve selected are fantastic and really made my night, along with my newfound tidbit of trivia. Thank you!
