Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025. There will be thousands of retrospectives about the importance of Ozzy over the next few days, and they will all be more meaningful than anything I could write. I’ll just say that “Bark at the Moon” has always been my favorite solo Ozzy tune since I bought it on cassette as a young teen in 1983 after seeing the video on MTV. That led me to “Crazy Train,” which led me to “Paranoid” and “Iron Man” and a lifetime of great metal. Tonight I’ll read some H.P. Lovecraft and listen to the debut Black Sabbath album. RIP Mr. Osbourne.
