J is for Japan

When I started the original Radio Faux Show, one of my favorite themes was to take a trip around the world and learn about music that I do not know. I’ll come back to my normal posts in a few weeks, but for now let’s continue our journey around the globe.

Yellow Magic Orchestra was the first band for musical visionary Ryuichi Sakamoto. The influence of this band and the work of Sakamoto extends across dozens of modern forms of music, from ambient to electronic to rock to hip hop, and all points in between. “Technopolis” is the first song on their second album, “Solid State Survivor.”
