The Four Tops: Helpless

I’m feeling old school soul today so I’m going back to a well that I’ve visited many times before. The Four Tops Second Album is a Motown classic. Every song on it is a banger, but “Helpless” is an especially wonderful showcase of the upbeat Motown sound that The Funk Brothers were cranking out in 1965.

Here is some Four Tops trivia: Lead vocalist Levi Stubbs was the voice of Audrey II in the 1986 film Little Shop Of Horrors.
