Kittie: We Are Shadows
Canadian group Kittie are one of the few all-female metal bands. They play a version of groove metal with both clean and growl vocals. Fire is their first album in 13 years after a long hiatus, and it finds them right back where they left off in 2011. This is not groundbreaking metal, but these four women are as good as any of their male contemporaries at crushingly melodic metal.

Though not technically metal, Kittie reminds me of another all-female hard-rocking and underrated female group–Fanny. Great stuff.

If you delve into my old posts you will find writings about my love for Fanny and the criminal neglect they have received for 50 years. It’s awesome that you know about them!

David Bowie, my musical hero, was a huge fan of Fanny. It’s too bad that didn’t help propel them further into the spotlight. I will check out your old posts! π
