Laurie Anderson: Only an Expert

This is week two of a new song of the day concept in which I provide songs by an artist whose career spans over 40 years. This week’s artist is Laurie Anderson. Anderson met Lou Reed in 1992 and they married in 2008. They were married until Reed’s death in 2013. The only album Anderson released during that time was Homeland in 2010. Co-produced with Reed, the album presents similar themes to her earlier albums Big Science and United States Live. Its main themes cover her thoughts on life in the United States, and the music pulls together decades of Anderson’s sonic experimentation into an overall cohesive sound, ranging from minimalism to EDM (such as on the single “Only an Expert”).
