Song of the Day: November 28, 2024

It’s Thanksgiving in the U.S., although here at the Faux household we don’t treat the holiday as a celebration of our violent, ethnic-cleansing history. We instead celebrate this day as the start of an extended Holiday season, and as a day to give thanks for family, friends, and all of the things that bring you peace and joy. If that is Turkey and Stuffing, then go for it! Otherwise, I wish everyone a wonderful day whether it be alone, with friends, with family, or in whatever way you may or may not celebrate.

Today’s song is a Thanksgiving classic by Arlo Guthrie. When I was a teenager forced to travel and spend the holiday with family that I did not necessarily want to spend several days with, I would always look for a chance to get away and listen to this tune.

  1. I love ‘Alice’s Restaurant’, which I’ve got on a playlist, and I loved the film too – and I’m not even from the USA! I’d love some of that Thanksgiving dinner that could not be beat – the whole thing is a wonderful reminder of my youth. Now I have an excuse to listen to it again later. πŸ™‚ Happy Thanksgiving to you, in whatever form it takes. πŸ™‚
